The Deal:
A top-tier Croatian football club was seeking a new majority owner (51 %) to consolidate its performance in domestic competitions and improve competitiveness in upcoming seasons. Despite its position and strategic location in Croatia, the club faced challenges in capitalizing on its advantages.
Our Role:
The Club Hub team members were engaged by a private US investment firm to advise on a deal structuring, stakeholder negotiations, perform due diligence, ensure a seamless transition and legal compliance with regulatory bodies.
Outcome:
The acquisition of majority stake for 2,6 million $ marked a significant step in bridging American and Central European football markets. Under the new ownership, the club has initiated several modernization efforts, including facility upgrades, and switched to Nike as the kit provider.
Identification and introduction of strategic partner for a Croatian top division football club
The Deal:
Stakeholders of a Croatian top division football club were seeking a strategic investment partner for a capital injection in order to preserve club's position. The objective was to secure a short-term partnership which could contribute financially and operationally, without compromising the club’s position, identity or institutional relations, consolidate club performance in domestic competitions and avoid relegation in order to secure favorable conditions for the change of majority ownership.
Our Role:
The Club Hub team members were engaged by the Club stakeholders to manage all club operations in order to achieve required sporting results to avoid relegation, ensure full regulatory compliance, identify potential strategic investment partners, advise on a deal structuring, organize and conduct stakeholder meetings and secure required capital injection.
Outcome:
Despite all the challenges, unfavorable market conditions and competition, the Club Hub Team successfully completed full strategic overhaul of Club's legal, financial and operational aspects in order to achieve required business goals and avoid relegation. Such overhaul involved debt/equity swap in the amount of 3,6 million €, full organizational restructuring, ensuring full regulatory compliance and securing additional capital injection by a strategic partner in the amount of 1,1 million € to achieve required sporting results and obtain required competition licence.
Acquisition of a majority shareholding interest in a Croatian top-tier football club by a foreign MCO group
The Deal:
A top-tier Croatian football club was seeking a change in the ownership structure and a new majority owner to acquire 85 % shareholding interest of the Club in order to reach new levels of competitiveness in domestic and international competitions.
Our Role:
The Club Hub team members were engaged by stakeholders of the Club to act as sell side M&A advisor in order to advise on a deal structuring, stakeholder negotiations, prepare M&A data room, ensure a seamless transition and legal compliance of the transaction with all regulatory bodies.
Outcome:
The acquisition of majority stake (85 %) of the Club marked a significant step in Croatian football as it was the first acquisition of shareholding interest in a football club by an international MCO group.
Identification and introduction of strategic partner for one of most prominent Croatian lower-league football clubs
The Deal:
Stakeholders of one of most prominent Croatian lower-league football clubs were seeking a strategic partner to manage club operations and secure required capital injections in order to support its development both on and off the pitch and secure continuous promotion to higher leagues of Croatian football system. The objective was to secure a medium-term partnership which could contribute financially and operationally, improve the club’s position, identity and institutional relations, boost club performance in domestic competitions and secure promotion to higher leagues in Croatia in order to secure favorable conditions for entry of new investors into shareholding structure of the Club.

The Club Hub team members were engaged by the Club stakeholders to manage all club operations in order to achieve required sporting results to secure continuous promotion to higher leagues of Croatian football, ensure full regulatory compliance, identify potential strategic investment partners and secure required capital injections.
Outcome:
The Club Hub Team successfully completed full strategic overhaul of Club's legal, financial and operational aspects in order to achieve required business goals and secure promotion to higher leagues in Croatia in two continuous competition seasons. Such overhaul involved full organizational restructuring, ensuring full regulatory compliance and securing additional capital injections by a strategic partner.
