Investing in Croatian football clubs

Investing in Croatian football clubs can be a compelling opportunity—especially for early-stage investors, sports entrepreneurs, or those seeking value in undercapitalized European markets.

The general consensus is that Croatian football clubs are underrated when compared to their on-pitch performance and potential in Europe.

  • International success: The Croatian national team has achieved significant international success, often surprising more highly-ranked opponents. GNK Dinamo Zagreb's UEFA current club coefficient is 43.000, which ranks them 48th in the current UEFA club coefficient ranking. This coefficient is based on their performance over the last five seasons and shall improve due to results in the UEFA Europa League 2025/26. These results are largely attributed to a strong footballing structure and elite talent development in Croatian football clubs.

  • Talent production: Despite having a relatively small population, Croatia consistently produces world-class players who go on to excel in top European leagues.

  • Domestic league: In previous years domestic league (HNL) did not reflect this level of prestige or financial power of Croatian national team or Dinamo Zagreb as most prominent Croatian football club but this started to change with entry of private investors in shareholding structure of Croatian football clubs and improved broadcasting and marketing rights for the domestic league.

  • UEFA Competitions: The major reorganization of European football competitions, implemented from the 2024/25 season, replaced the traditional group stage with a new "league phase" for the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League. This allows Croatian football clubs to qualify for the league phase of UEFA competitions and follow the examples of Dinamo Zagreb and Rijeka which participated in the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League in previous seasons.

  • Significant Real Estate Potential: Investment in Croatian football clubs offer significant real estate potential as such investments allow (re)construction of football stadiums with new commercial areas and development of modern football training camps for development of elite football talents from Croatia and neighboring countries.
